I had a limited budget and wanted a star ruby. GemSelect offered small, but pretty stones at a very reasonable price. I've always been satisfied with my GemSelect purchases, although there are also eBay vendors I use for less expensive gems. Their selection of more expensive stones, like rubies, is very limited, however.
O.K. experience. Pictures could be a little better, offer more views, especially full face on, to get a better idea of how a stone would look mounted in a ring, i.e., how centered the star is. The prices seem pretty fair.

I really enjoy how you can sort the types of gemstones by cut, color, and size. The website is laid out very well. To be able to sort through the gemstones on the rolling slide to the left of the page is a useful tool.
I couldn't believe how easy it was to find gems, see photos, scroll through until something caught my attention, and then choose it and pay for it. What a great site!
