Uvarovite Garnet Druzy Uvarovite is a very rare member of the large and varied garnet family. It is a type of striking emerald-green garnet that occurs as very small crystals and also as a coating of very tiny crystals on the surface of a matrix (host rock), known as drusy or druzy. It is sold as gemstones along with the matrix and is known for its vivid color and brilliance. Uvarovite is composed of calcium chromium silicate, which distinguishes it from other garnet. It was discovered in 1832 by Germain Henri Hess.
This was my second purchase from GemSelect and definitely won’t be my last! They have a very wide variety of gems and you can always find what you are looking for with ease and the prices are very good.
finally bought the last rock to complete my ring idea; needed another white one after giving the big diamond to my daughter. a diamond that size is out of my retired-school-teacher budget, so i bought a white zircon. went back to the same place that i got my loose sapphire-- great selection, good prices, good delivery!
