Chrysocolla is not a very well known gemstone but it is becoming increasingly popular with jewelry designers looking for something interesting and new. It is also an ideal gemstone for people keen on making their own jewelry either as a hobby or for business.
Chrysocolla is thought of as blue or green gemstone but its physical make up can include quartz, chalcedony, malachite, azurite and even opal on occasion which can create a whole rainbow of other colors as well as intriguing patches and patterns.
The green or blue color is caused by the presence of copper in the mineral composition of the gemstone when forming.

Pure Chrysocolla is a copper silicate which began life as a sort of gel which hardened over time. It is very rarely totally pure and combines with other minerals such as turquoise, quartz, malachite and others which not only creates interesting patterns and colors but also makes it durable enough to be used as a gemstone.
Chrysocolla is a very affordable gemstone and its appeal can be a matter of personal preference as far as color and patterns are concerned.
Generally any gemstone with a bright blue color and decent coverage will be the highest valued of all Chrysocolla although an equally even colored green gemstone could be just about as valuable.
Large sizes are readily available so the price per carat will not rise exponentially as they get bigger. Most Chrysocolla will be in the $1 - $5 per carat bracket.
Chrysocolla is not usually treated in any way although we have heard of some all blue or all green gemstones being strengthened by the application of epoxy. We do not stock these types of Chrysocolla.
Chrysocolla is most famously and historically found in Southern Israel but can also be found in Australia, Russia, the USA and Mexico in North America and Chile and Peru in South America.
Chrysocolla is rated at 2 - 4 on Mohs hardness scale which would make it very soft for use in jewelry but the inclusion of quartz and chalcedony in its physical make-up usually strengthens this gemstone considerably. Large pendants would be totally fine as would earrings and necklaces but we would suggest protective settings for rings.

Very wide selection, plenty of accent stones to choose from. Both expensive and inexpensive gems have wide variety. Great website layout too.

Everything was good about this order except I was a little disappointed in the product because it was so small. This is the first time that I have ever bought a gem so I was very unfamiliar with the sizes mainly because measurements were in metric.
Overall Rating -> 10
It was fairly easy to navigate after learning the website. Found what I wanted and it’s suppose to be 100% natural gemstones. I will test when they arrive and update my feedback
