Rutile Topaz Rutile (or rutilated) topaz is colorless topaz with inclusions that look like rutile crystals, similar to rutilated quartz. However, studies have shown that the inclusions which look like rutile needles are, in fact, limonite staining in thin channels in the topaz. This is why the inclusions in so-called rutilated topaz tend to be less dense than in rutilated quartz.
I love GemSelect, personally. I browse their site almost daily to see all the new stones available. Their selection is pretty amazing. The quality isn't always the highest and the cut of the stones isn't always perfect. But for the price, and if you look hard enough, you can find a real gem, so to speak.
