Azurite Druzy
Druzy or Drusy is a layer of quartz crystals that form in clusters on the surface or within a cavity of another mineral.
There are a number of different crystals which can be found in druzy form including garnet, amethyst, calcite and the Druzy Azurite on sale on this page.
Druzy Azurite Colors
Druzy Azurite is generally a cluster of blue crystals on a plain colored mineral backing. The blue, as you may have guessed from the name of the stone, is often a deep azure blue in the better examples and is caused by the presence of copper.

Druzy Azurite Species
Azurite is a rather unusual and rare copper carbonate mineral that is occasionally considered gemstone quality with the only other example being malachite although Azurite is rarer and more valuable. As a Druzy gemstone it is even harder to find.
It is quite soft for a gemstone so both the regular azurite and Druzy Azurite are more often bought by collectors or for their spiritual powers rather than jewelers.
What are the spiritual benefits of Druzy Azurite?
Druzy Azurite will possess all the strengths and influences of regular azurite. Azurite is referred to as the 'Stone of Heaven' for its power to stimulate psychic skills.
Its other qualities include:

Druzy Azurite Price
Druzy Azurite is not a very expensive gemstone and most will range from $2 - $10 per carat. The price, as with most gemstones, depends on the color with a deep and even azure blue being the most sought after.
In addition, with Druzy Azurite, coverage is important. As much as possible of the base mineral should be covered with crystals. The crystals themselves will ideally be uniform size and the bigger the crystals the better.
Druzy Azurite Treatments
Druzy Azurite is not normally treated in any way to enhance its appearance.
Be wary of any Druzy Azurite on sale with especially bright blue colors or a blue color that is identical across the stone (and identical to other examples) as this could be an indication of dyeing.
Any treatments are clearly and fully disclosed on our product pages.
Druzy Azurite History
Regular Azurite was once ground up and used as a dye for cloth or made into a pigment for painting. Azurite is one of the minerals that make up Eilat Stone - the others include malachite and turquoise - which is the national stone of Israel. The original mine dates back to the Bronze age and were supposedly a favorite of King Solomon.
Where is Druzy Azurite found?
The finest sources of Druzy Azurite include Utah, Arizona and New Mexico in the USA as well as Namibia, Morocco and Australia.
What jewelry is Druzy Azurite suitable for?
Druzy Amethyst is rated at 3.5 - 4 on Mohs hardness scale which makes it a bit too soft to use as jewelry unless special care is taken. They could be incorporated into a unique brooch or pendant design for occasional wear but Druzy Azurite is definitely more of a collector's stone or for use as a spiritual aid.
