White or colorless topaz is an affordable gemstone for those looking for durability and beauty combined. Most of the white topaz gems available today are mined from Minas Gerais (Brazil), but deposits are also commercially mined from Afghanistan, Australia, Myanmar (Burma), China, Germany, Japan, Madagascar, Mexico, Namibia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Russia, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka (Ceylon), Ukraine and the USA.
White topaz has a hardness of 8 on the Mohs scale, which makes it tough and resistant to most scratches, but its perfect cleavage does make it fragile in regard to fractures or splits. Topaz in its purest form is completely colorless and exhibits excellent transparency with an attractive vitreous (glass-like) luster. It serves as an excellent natural substitute for white diamond, although it can be difficult to find small precision-cut gemstones.

The calibrated section of the search is great for finding appropriate options for known settings and has a very convenient set of subcategories that make shopping for stones for bracelets and earrings much easier.
My order was late by a few days, even though I paid extra for express shipping. Everything else was fantastic though, stones arrived beautifully packaged and I was pleasantly surprised that information cards were included for each stone. Fabulous :)
