Double-sided gemstones are unique in that they are not cut in the traditional way. Cabochons are cut with flat bottoms and domed tops, while faceted gems typically feature a pavilion that comes to a point or culet line of some sort. Double-side gemstones, sometimes described as full-rounded, are perfect for those looking for a gemstone that can be worn and shown on both sides; in example, pendant stones often get twisted and flipped around when worn around the next, but with a double-side gem, this is no problem since both sides of the gem are cut in the same way. Double-sided gems are often given a checkboard cut or they may be given a smooth cabochon dome featured on both sides of the gem.
This was my second purchase from GemSelect and definitely won’t be my last! They have a very wide variety of gems and you can always find what you are looking for with ease and the prices are very good.
finally bought the last rock to complete my ring idea; needed another white one after giving the big diamond to my daughter. a diamond that size is out of my retired-school-teacher budget, so i bought a white zircon. went back to the same place that i got my loose sapphire-- great selection, good prices, good delivery!
