Gemstones for Gemini

The word zodiac means circle of little animals – the word zoo comes from the same Greek source – and reflects the presence of so many animals amongst the signs – ram, bull, fish and so on.

The zodiac developed over centuries of observing the movements of the planets and the stars and their apparent influence over the seasons, tides and natural phenomenon.

In the early days astronomy, astrology, horoscopes, fortune telling and religion were all intermingled and treated as equals. During this time planets and stars could be considered gods, were assigned mythological stories, given colors and elements and often associated with gemstones and crystals.

The Gemini constellation contains the famous stars Castor and Pollux – the twin sons of Greek god, Zeus (although perhaps only Pollux was really Zeus’ son – those Greeks were complicated bunch) – who were responsible for saving sailors in trouble on the high seas.

With a bit of reading and a lot of Googling we have come up with two ideal gemstones for Gemini. Agate and Topaz, whose histories stretch back to the time when the zodiac was still young, are two great gemstones which can be used in all sorts of ways both spiritual and material.
