Those born in August have peridot as their official birthstone. In addition to peridot, spinel has become an official birthstone too. Peridot is gem-quality olivine. Peridot is an idiochromatic gem. This means it is always green because its color comes from its composition rather than trace impurities. Peridot is believed to protect the wearer from evil, particularly from the forces of darkness. It can also increase the healing power of medicinal drugs. GemSelect has a wide range of natural peridot gemstone available, which range from olive green to lime green. There are various sizes, shapes and cutting styles in stock. Peridot was called "evening emerald" by the Romans because it appeared to glow under candlelight. Peridot is suitable for any jewelry application, from rings to necklace pendants. The most recent addition to the list of August birthstones is spinel. Depending on which system of beliefs you follow, there are several choices of August birthstones. The zodiac stone for Virgo (Aug 24 - Sep 22) is carnelian and for Leo (Jul 23 - Aug 23) it is onyx. The Vedic birthstones for August are pearl for the first part of the month and ruby for the second part of the month.
Are You Searching for Birthstones in Months Other Than August?
I ordered my gems off this website called GemSelect, they have a good selection and it's easy to navigate. You can also have the gems professionally certified when you buy them, but they do provide certificates of their own.
Good experience with finding a variety of stones. Due to the vast selection, it is important to be able to search, and I had issues with the site not returning matches when I put in a specific size range. I was eventually able to narrow it down by sorting the items by size, but it was slower than if I could have typed it in. I also wish Gem Select would offer lab created stones (fully disclosed, of course!) so I could get some exotic colors more frequently. Overall, I love browsing and will continue to patronize, but this would put the site as my #1 go to.
I have been browsing stones on GemSelect for a few months. They have such a large selection and I found some stones I had never even hear of before visiting GemSelect! I cannot wait to receive my order and show my gems off!
