I like to use GemSelect for finding calibrated sizes of gemstones. I purchased sapphires a few years ago and found the quality to be outstanding so I went ahead and purchased some more today (different) and some really unique moonstone. I recently purchased from another site. It was an auction type. Unfortunately they added buyer's premium of 22% and Fort Knox shipping fees. Never again now that I've seen this site.

It's important to understand what you are buying. Gem stones all vary significantly and you need to adjust your selection based on purpose, cost, expected out come.In my case I was selecting and very attractive heart shaped stone which once set in a pendent would fall in a specific cost range yet present an attractive picture of luxury without extreme risk e.g loss.
