About Labradorite
Labradorite is a member of the plagioclase feldspar group, which also includes andesine and sunstone. Labradorite displays a schiller called labradorescence in lustrous metallic tints, often blue and green. It is mainly caused by interference of light from lattice distortion.Labradorite deposits are found in Labrador, Canada (hence the name), as well as in Australia, Madagascar, Mexico, Russia and the USA. Rainbow moonstone is the name given to a variety of labradorite that exhibits a blue or multicolored adularescence on a light body color. Spectrolite is a rare specimen of labradorite which is known to display a full spectrum of colors, not only violet, blue and green; but also yellow, orange and red.
