I love Gem Select! When you order what you see is what you get. As soon as you make payment that particular gem is taken off the photo album. That way the one you select is a one of that kind.
Overall Rating -> 10
I love the quality, package and info of your gems.
Sugilite is an obscure and quite rare mineral named after the Japanese geologist, Ken-ichi Sugi, who discovered it in 1944. It is rarely found as crystals, usually being massive in form. It has a distinctive purple color and is usually opaque to translucent. Sugilite has sometimes been called purple turquoise although there is no connection between these minerals.
Sugilite has a Mohs hardness of 5.5 to 6.5, and it can range greatly in color from the pinks and purples. Sugilite deposits are found in Australia, India, Japan, Canada, and South Africa.
Sugilite is a handy gemstone which can be used as beads, inlay, drilled-gemstones, faceted gemstones and cabochons to produce a range of beautiful jewelry. In fine jewelry, sugilite is often set in yellow gold, which provides an interesting contrast as purple and yellow are complementary to one another.
