Rose quartz displaying asterism (the star effect) is rare; asterism occurs when the quartz contains rutile needles.
The unique soft pink color of rose quartz gems is thought to derive from tiny traces of titanium impurities. Rose quartz gemstones tend to be cloudy which deepens the color; transparent crystals are extremely rare. The translucent milky quality of rose quartz make it ideal for cutting en cabochon or carving in inventive ways.
Star rose quartz is great to collect and could be used in jewelry as a pendant.

So many gorgeous stones! The only "complaint" I have is it's difficult to visualize sizes in mm. Perhaps some way to compare in inches?It has been a long time since I bought stones from Gem select, but the process wasn't too difficult.
