Although the mineral Enstatite can be found all over the world it is very rarely of high enough quality to be thought of as a gemstone. It got its name from the Greek word for resist as it can withstand very high temperatures. This could explain why it can be found in meteorites and volcanic rocks.
Although Enstatite can be found in white, gray, green and brown colors it is the dark brown bronze and the deep emerald green colors that are the most highly appreciated. Elements such as iron and chrome are the cause of the colors.
Enstatite can appear to change color when viewed from different angles in a phenomenon known as pleochroism.

Enstatite is a member of the pyroxene family of silicate minerals and is very common all over the world in igneous and metamorphic rocks although having the right color, clarity and size to be worthy of a gemstone is a very rare find indeed.
Enstatite is a fairly obscure gemstone which has not built up much of a reputation for its spiritual powers yet. It is said that it can help with life-changing events and decisions as well as:

Both the iron content and the russet brown color will link Enstatite to the Root Chakra which deals with basic life issues such as security, shelter and protection. Any more golden colors could help with the Sacral or Solar Plexus Chakras while a green Enstatite can unblock a troubled Heart Chakra.

Enstatites are a rare and beautiful gemstone and the price will reflect this. As with all gemstones it is the color, clarity and size that will determine the price. The best examples of Enstatite will have a bronze or orange/brown color and excellent clarity.
Larger carat weights are even rarer in Enstatite so the price per carat will rise somewhat as the gemstones get bigger. Less than 5 carats for a high quality gemstone should be between $75 and $100 per carat while any Enstatite larger than 5 carats could cost between $100 and $125 per carat.
As far as we are aware, Enstatite is not known to be treated or enhanced in any way.
There is very little to discuss about Enstatite's history apart from its first discription in 1855 by German mineralogist, Gustav Kenngot, although it was actually used by Ancient Egyptians for sacred scarab carvings but strangely not mentioned in their extensive lists of materials used for jewelry.
Some of the best sources of fine Enstatite gemstones include Brazil, France, Germany, India, Myanmar, South Africa, Sri Lanka and the United States.
Enstatite is rated at 5.5 on Mohs hardness scale which means it is a little bit softer than most gemstones used in jewelry however as a pendant it would be safe from any knocks or bumps or it could make a very interesting ring in a protective setting.
The deep bronze colors make it ideal for men's jewelry.
