Emeralds from Colombia have a color like no other gemstone, with a pure green color with intense color saturation. High quality Colombian emeralds usually cost you an arm and a leg, which is why we are so proud to be able to offer this stunning gem at extremely affordable prices!

Chrysoberyl cat’s eye
The most famous and valuable cat's eye gemstone is chrysoberyl cat's eye. In fact when the term cat's eye is used alone in the gem trade, it always refers to chrysoberyl cat's eye. All other types of cat's eye gems require an additional varietal designation, such as cat's eye apatite. Chrysoberyl cat's eye is so highly regarded due to its excellent hardness (8.5 on the Mohs scale), superb luster and remarkably sharp cat's eye effect.

Customer Questions and Answers:
Question
What is the difference between chrome tourmaline and green tourmaline?
Answer
Chrome tourmalines differ chemically from other green varieties of tourmaline. Traces of chromium produces its emerald like color of Chrome tourmaline, while common green tourmaline is colored by traces of iron.
Question
What is an Opal doublet?
Answer
An opal doublet is a slice of precious opal glued to a black backing. This technique is used frequently with rare opal to produce larger and stronger pieces at a lower cost. Doublets can easily be identified by looking at the side of the opal; if the stone has been adhered together you will notice that the line where the colored opal and the black backing meet is perfectly straight. Opal doublets are highly regarded as an inexpensive alternative to solid opals which are very expensive in larger sizes.
