Round Kyanite gemstones are natural stones cut in a symmetrical circular shape. Kyanite is known for its striking blue hues, though it can also occur in green, gray, or colorless varieties.
Are round Kyanite gemstones suitable for jewelry?
Yes, round Kyanite is often used in earrings, pendants, and rings. However, due to its perfect cleavage and variable hardness, it requires careful setting to avoid damage.
What colors are available for round Kyanite gemstones?
The most common and popular color is blue, ranging from light to deep sapphire-like tones. Less common are green, gray, and colorless Kyanite stones.
Is Kyanite treated or enhanced?
Kyanite is typically untreated. Its natural color is highly valued, and most stones on the market—especially those sold by reputable sources—are not artificially enhanced.
What is the hardness of round Kyanite gemstones?
Kyanite has a unique property: its hardness varies depending on direction—about 4.5 parallel to the length and up to 7 across. This anisotropic hardness makes it more fragile than many gems.
Are round Kyanite gemstones rare?
While Kyanite is not extremely rare, fine-quality round cuts are less common due to the difficulty of working with the stone. Symmetrical shapes like rounds require precision cutting.
Where does Kyanite come from?
Major sources include Nepal, Brazil, India, and Kenya. Nepalese blue Kyanite is especially prized for its vivid color and clarity.
Can I get certified round Kyanite gemstones?
Yes, many sellers—including GemSelect—offer certified natural Kyanite stones with full disclosure of treatment status and origin.

First time using this website. It was both exciting finding things in my price range and things Iam gonna save up for and use in other pieces. I love that the picture of the gem is the exact gem I'll be buying. I haven't tested the gems yes but they said they sold me 100% natural gems.

I've made several purchases through GemSelect in the past, although not within the last six months. Their gems are always beautiful and I have never had an issue with their prices or their stones. Even when I'm not buying, I love scrolling through their website, which is very user friendly. I especially appreciate being able to change the listing order to your own liking, such as most to least expensive, largest to smallest, etc. As with most online orders, however, I think the shipping charges are not commensurate with the actual weight of the items shipped.
