The 'buff top' gemstone cut is another style of mixed cutting for gemstones. Mixed-cut gemstones are, well, self-explanatory - they're usually cut with the combined features of a 'faceted' gem as well as a 'plain-cut' gemstone. Most mixed-cut stones exhibit facets on the upper half of the stone, while the lower half is cut with a smooth or rounded surface, such as the 'rose cut' (one of the most popular styles of mixed cut). The rose-cut is often used on black gemstones like black spinel, tourmaline or melanite. The buff-top cut is another popular mixed cut which is basically the opposite of a rose cut. Buff-top gemstones feature a smooth (typically domed) upper half and a faceted bottom half. The strategically-placed facets allow light to reflect from the pavilion in very interesting ways. This style of cutting is typically reserved for transparent or translucent materials.

I always check this site because they have unique options.
I ordered this really nice pair of Rubies from Gemselect and I love them because of all the detailed information you get. Also if you scroll down you can see other similar items single, in pairs, lots, bigger, smaller, etc and it's such an easy website to use.
I wasn't sure where to go to find a variety of gemstones to choose from in the size and shape that I was looking for. I'm really glad I found this website because the search options and filters made it really easy to find what I was looking for. The prices seem quite reasonable. This will be the first place I go the next time I'm looking for a gemstone!
