Agate gemstones form in concentric layers which result in a remarkable variety of colors, textures and patterns. Agate was highly valued for its use in talismans or amulets during ancient times. It was believed to quench thirst and protect from fevers as a healing stone. Agate stone can be found in many locations in the world, including Brazil, Uruguay, Australia, India, China, Madagascar, Mexico, Mongolia, Namibia and the USA. Fire agate is one of the more valuable agate varieties, and due to the natural of the stone, it is almost always cut en cabochon -- in many cases, it is often just lightly polished and traded in its near-rough form.

Many beautiful gems on the site. Love that you are actually shipped the gem that is shown in the photos. Also cool that they give a write up of each gem detailing hardness, characteristics, and best uses for mounting. Great site! Looking forward to seeing these gems in person.
