About Prehnite
Prehnite, a form of calcium aluminum silicate, has a vitreous mother-of-pearl luster. Affordably priced for its size, with a Mohs hardness of 6 to 6.5, Prehnite makes distinctive and interesting jewelry.

Typically found in yellow-green or brown-yellow, Prehnite is for the gem lover who likes something unusual. Until recently, this was a rare gemstone, but new deposits have made it more available.

Prehnite is said to encourages composure, forgiveness and acceptance and is excellent for meditation. Prehnite also helps sufferers of claustrophobia.

Prehnite was named after a Dutch mineralogist, Colonel von Phrehn. Deposits are found in Australia, China, Scotland, South Africa and the USA.
