Clinohumite is a rare mineral and an especially rare gemstone. It is a member of the humite group of minerals, which includes humite, clinohumite, chondrodite, and norbergite.
The humite minerals are named for Sir Abraham Hume (1749-1838), an English mineralogist and famous art collector. Clinohumite was first discovered in 1876 in limestone blocks from the volcano Mount Vesuvius near Naples, Italy. Only three sources of gem-quality material clinohumite are known: the Pamir Mountains of Tajikistan, the Taymyr region of northern Siberia and the Mahenge plateau of Tanzania.
I recommend this site for anyone looking for loose gems! They were delivered right on time, packaged very carefully. Every gem was exactly what I ordered. Even more beautiful than the photos I viewed. Which are pictures of the actual gem you are buying. Thank you so much Gem Select! I will be buying from them in the future for sure!
I received the product in a very well packaged parcel with complete detail of what I ordered. I opened the envelope, then the bag and then the bubble wrap and then the item containing the stone. I was so delighted at the color, the cut , the clean clarity and the sparkle of my Ametrine, love at first sight. Cant wait to get it set into a ring with some Citrine and Amethyst. Thanks so much
I have purchased from many sites in Thailand and to date GemSelect has been the best. Prices are fair and shipping is quick. Quality is as described and website is easy to navigate. I would recommend this company to others and plan on returning in the future if prices stay competitive and service stays consistent.
