Pearls Cultured Saltwater
Pearls belong to the class of organic gemstones. They are products of bivalve mollusks (mainly oysters and mussels) built up of nacre (mother-of-pearl), which is mainly calcium carbonate in the form of aragonite crystals, and another type of organic horn substance known as conchioli.
Although pearls are not especially hard, only about 2.5 to 4.5 on the Mohs scale, they are extraordinarily compact and very difficult to crush. The colors of pearls can vary depending on the type of mollusk and the water they were formed in. Natural pearls are incredibly rare and extremely valuable (occurring without human intervention), so most pearls available today are actually cultured pearls. Cultured pearls are available as both saltwater and freshwater pearl.

Love the gem.... ease of finding the right gem. For me it was the size of the gem that was important on this purchase. I found the right size.
Great selection of items easey to place order definitely will order from you again Just wish that there was a place on the sight to convert MM to inches or be able to pick between mm and inches to determine the size of stone's for those of us that do not use the metric system
This web site is super easy to use and the product has always been top notch. I have ordered stones from around the globe and I love their selection. My wife's wedding gifts and greats birthday gifts always start with gem select.
