ルビー - 含浸処理あり
The process of fracture filling ruby is a recent innovation that began around 2004. Rubies of good color, primarily from Madagascar, can be enhanced using a combination of heat treatment with lead glass. Because the refractive index of corundum and lead glass are very similar, light can travel through the stone unhindered. Fracture-filled rubies can often be bought in exceptionally large sizes that heat-only ruby would almost never be found in, and at a fraction of the cost of heated or untreated ruby. So they are of excellent value, as long as the treatment is disclosed and the price is appropriate.
It's pretty great having a whole lot of different gemstones to choose from. When doing crafts and jewelry making, it's great to have all kinds of options, and it's amazing how much cheaper it is to just purchase un-set gemstones and make the setting yourself, as opposed to buying fully-made jewelry already. It's also extra special since you made it yourself.
