Opal in Matrix is a beautiful multicolored stone with a black base color. Since it is often discovered and mined in Honduras is has earned the name 'Honduras Black Opal.' Opal in Matrix is cut in Cabochon to display the gorgeous multicolored effects for which it's famous. The stone displays its remarkable color properties which are 'essentially' tiny flecks of opal that shine naturally brilliant colors. These Opal flecks are embedded randomly in the parent rock rather than the seams of opal that normally appear in 'Boulder Opal.'
