Smithsonite is one of two zinc-containing minerals discovered by the British chemist and mineralogist James Smithson in 1803. Or, more precisely, Smithson discovered that a zinc-containing mineral known by the name calamine in the 18th century was in fact two separate minerals -- a zinc carbonate and zinc silicate. The zinc carbonate was named hemimorphite and the zinc silicate was named smithsonite in Smithson's honor.
Shipping is faster than anything bought and shipped here in the states. Mine came in 3 days and could be tracked all the way. I did return a gem but had no problems with delivery or refund thank goodness. Customer service was excellent with all my requests. Wanted eyes on to see actual color of gems and Gem Select were extremely helpful. Have used them twice. Very happy both times. Will use again.
I am so elated to finally find an professional online gemstone store front that knows their stuff. I learned a lot about gemstones and now know how to shop for the biggest bang for my buck. Very much looking forward to adding ...
I am very impressed with the variety of stones, and the information on each one that allows me to see each specific stone before I purchase it. I also enjoy the articles on various aspects of gems, minerals etc. I am looking forward to getting my 1st order.
I bought a few items over the past two years and have always been very satified with the product as well as the price. I note the delivery charge is now a little less - thanks very much. I will visit the site again in the future. I bought a few items from GemSelect and all my experiences were positive. I will use them again if I am in the market for gem stones. Thanks.
