The highly-prized Paraiba Tourmaline has a unique fire and brilliance, which makes the stone seem to glow and shine from within even when there is little light. The color is often characterised as "electric" or "neon," produced by copper within the stone, and is exclusive to this gem species. Originally only found in now-depleted mines in the Paraiba region of Brazil, fine stones are now being mined in Africa, which show the same chemical composition and amazing color.
